A Highly Trusted Kitchenaid Appliance Repair Service in South Miami
With an estimated population of 11,958, South Miami is a Miami suburb. South Miami is one of the nicest areas to reside in Florida, located in Miami-Dade County. The majority of inhabitants in South Miami own their houses, giving them an urban, suburban mix vibe. Many restaurants, coffee shops, and parks may be found in South Miami. South Miami is a liberal neighborhood with many families and young professionals. South Miami has excellent public schools.
The Miami Metrorail connects the area to downtown Kendall, Downtown Miami, and the Miami Intermodal Center at Miami International Airport through the South Miami station on Sunset Drive. Before European pioneers pushed through Little Hunting Ground to Big Hunting Ground, South Florida had been inhabited by Native Americans for millennia.
In 1904, a terminal was established along the Florida East Coast Railway, and John Moses Dowling built the first residence within the municipal boundaries of what is now South Miami. His son-in-law opened the White Palace Grocery, the first business on the west side of the rails.
For example, Dorn Avenue and the Shelley Building are historic structures and streets named after other notable historic families. In 1910, Harold W. Dorn and his brother Robert migrated to the region with the goal of farming mango and avocado. The Cocoplum Thimble Club, the first women's club in Larkins, was founded by Mary E. Dorn. The Riviera Theater, located at 5700 South Dixie Highway, was erected by the Dorn brothers in 1925.
Marshall Williamson, a native of Madison, Florida, was the first African-American to own land in the Larkins region. Even before it was finished, he constructed his home at 6500 SW 60th Avenue and permitted it to be used for church meetings. He provided property for the St. John's AME Church, one of Larkins' earliest churches and the first church in the black community, at 6461 SW 59th Place, in 1916. Later, Williamson gave the property to the J. School of R. E. Lee. The black area became dubbed Madison Square after Williamson's birthplace due to his generosity. In 1972, Williamson passed away. Marshall Williamson Park, located at 6125 SW 68 Street, is named for him.
