KitchenAid Appliance Repair Service Manhasset | KitchenAid Repairs

Manhasset is a town and census-designated place in Nassau County, New York, on the North Shore of Long Island. At the time of the 2010 census, the community had 8,080 people. Its local operations are governed by the municipality in which it is situated, the Town of North Hempstead, whose main building is in Manhasset, making the hamlet the town seat, as with other unincorporated villages in New York.

In the year 1840, the name "Manhasset" was chosen. It's most likely an anglicized version of a local Native American tribe's name, "island neighborhood."

The name Manhasset was given to the town in 1840, and it derives from the Native American phrase "Manhasset," which roughly translates to "the island neighborhood." Dairy farming was still a key sector, but the oyster industry was booming. The Long Island Railroad came in 1898, bringing rich New Yorkers yearning for country estates with convenient access to the city's more metropolitan districts. Many skilled employees and immigrant families moved to Manhasset Valley and Spinney Hill.

On Manhasset Bay, the Matinecock had a settlement. Sint Sink, which means "place of little stones" in Native Americans, was the name given to the location by these people. Oyster shells were used to make wampum. The Dutch West India Company seized the land in 1623, and in 1640, they began pressing English inhabitants to leave. English settlers were able to return to Cow Neck, the peninsula where today's Port Washington, Manhasset, and nearby communities are located, thanks to a land acquisition completed in 1643.

Manhasset Bay was once known as Schout's Bay, Martin Garretson's Bay, and eventually Cow Bay or Cow Harbor. Cow Neck was separated from the lands to the south by an 8-kilometer barrier in 1659. The settlers came to an arrangement that each of them may have one cow around their neck for every section of fence they built. When the barrier was dismantled in 1677, the territory was more formally partitioned among the settlers. Manhasset was dubbed Little Cow Neck, while Port Washington was dubbed Upper Cow Neck.

Little Cow Neck was a victim of the British during the American Revolution. Many structures and properties were torched, confiscated, or damaged, including the 1719 Quaker Meeting House. In 1784, the Town of North Hempstead split from the Town of Hempstead because the south, mostly populated by the Church of England people, remained faithful to the monarch. The Yankee Congregationalists controlled Northern towns and villages, which favored independence.
